The Rams Study Centre works with all schools in the city of Derby. The numeracy, literacy and ICT curriculum continually evolves with regular input from the PfS teachers, teaching partners and students.
Music creation and video animation remain a core part of the ICT offer due to student demand. PfS in Derby is a close partnership between the Rams Study Centre and the PfS centre at Derbyshire County Cricket Club combining staff, resources, policies and practices.
The centres have successfully completed the fourth Teaching Partner programme offering teachers the CPD opportunity to train as PfS teachers and take PfS back into schools. Volunteer study coaches are trained from Derby CVS, Rolls- Royce and the University of Derby to support PfS sessions.
As part of an employability, leadership and management award completed at the centre by a final year media student, a short informative DVD on the PfS offer in Derby has been created for schools and pupils.
The DCSF Computer Club for Girls programme continues to be offered to girls who have attended PfS sessions. EDS and Rolls-Royce provide funding for a Saturday club and a summer school. Girls attending the club benefit from between 10-30 extra hours of ICT support through joint project work with girls from other schools and have the opportunity to gain a QCA accredited certificate in IT.
